What’s the next obvious move after entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe as its most powerful character? Why, teaming up with your dad for a 1980s sci-fi satire revival, of course — or, at least, that’s the case if you’re Lewis Pullman, who’s apparently in talks to join the cast of the just-announced Spaceballs sequel.
The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive that the actor who’s most recently been seen onscreen as the Sentry in Marvel’s Thunderbolts* is in discussions with Amazon MGM to star as one of the leads in the as-yet-untitled sequel. According to THR, he’d play “a character named Starburst, the son of Queen Vespa ([Daphne] Zuniga) and Lone Starr (Bill Pullman).” Yes, Bill Pullman as in Lewis Pullman’s actual dad, who played the Han Solo-esque lead in the 1987 original. The levels of meta are already off the charts.
If he signs on, Lewis Pullman will join a cast that already includes Josh Gad, Keke Palmer and Mel Brooks. Rick Moranis and Daphne Zuniga are also expected to return, per THR.
News of Pullman’s potential involvement comes one day after Spaceballs 2 was officially announced after years of speculation, with Brooks himself appearing in the announcement video. Take a look for yourself:
The second Spaceballs will be released in 2027, although an official release date has yet to be announced.
