The new trailer for Sinners — the supernatural thriller from Black Panther and Creed director Ryan Coogler — has arrived, hinting at a cinematic world far larger than many might have expected… with Michael B. Jordan right at the center of it.
Coogler told The Hollywood Reporter that the movie is “a love letter to the experience of watching an exhilarating movie in a packed house full of strangers, not knowing what’s going to happen next,” adding that it’s “very genre fluid… It switches in and out of a lot of different genres. Yes, vampires are an element, but it’s not the only supernatural element in the movie. The film is about more than just that.”
That much is clear from the new trailer, which appears to drops in elements of the Robert Johnson story as well as teases of time travel in one fascinating line of dialogue. Watch for yourself:
Sinners is the most personal movie to date, the Black Panther director shared with THR. "I’m blessed to have found this medium that I can work out deep philosophical and existential questions that I may be struggling with while contributing to an art form that means so much to my family. Each film brings me closer to understanding myself and the world around me."
Sinners is in theaters April 18.
