Meeting a celebrity can be a cool experience. However, the celebrity might not find the experience as fun as you do. It’s all about how you approach the situation.
For example, there’s a difference between meeting a celebrity at a convention and meeting them at a pizza joint. For conventions, the talent is there to sign autographs and take pictures with fans. But what happens when you meet a celebrity in another public place. Jamie Kennedy has some tips for you. The actor has spent years running into Scream fans. Some of them have been pleasant, while others have been….something else. Speaking to a crowd at FanX 2023, Kennedy shared his etiquette tips for celebrity encounters.
“When I’m out in a food court and I’m getting some Sbarro, if I see you guys, and you know, you want to say what’s up, just say, ‘Hey Jamie,’ that’s cool. Not behind me someone going, ‘(shouting) RANDY!’ It’s a little scary at the food court. I know I get scared.”
Kennedy said that on more than one occasion he’s had fans shout variations of, “RANDY! YOU SHOULD HAVE LIVED,” referring to the fate of his character from Scream. While Kennedy appreciates the sentiment, he advises against screaming and making a scene.
While I’ve never seen Jamie Kennedy (or any Scream cast members) at my local Sbarro, I’ll keep this in mind if I ever run into any of them.
