You're having a pretty good year, so long as you're Michael Johnston.
The Teen Wolf actor is currently headlining the box-office-booming horror flick Obsession, which just crossed over the $100M domestic mark, per Variety. In case you somehow don't know, the film stars Johnston as Bear, a lonely teen who makes a romantic wish with homicidal results, but in the real world, Johnston's wishes are coming true in decidedly less murdery ways.
The actor has joined X-Men '97 season 2 as Nathan Summers, the mutant who will eventually become Cable.
Johnston confirmed his casting recently on his Instagram, in a post attached to the latest trailer for Disney+'s modern reboot of the Marvel animated classic.
"I had the absolute privilege of voicing Nathan Summers in Marvel Animation’s #XMen97," writes the Slash star, to a whole host of likes and encouraging messages in the comment section.
What we don't know at this point is exactly how the young Summers's story will play out in X-Men '97's upcoming second season, or whether Johnston will ever provide the voice of the elder evolution of Summers' character, who appeared in season 1 as voiced by Lawrence Bayne. And while we're certainlu excited to hear the answers to those questions, we won't be employing a One Wish Willow to get them anytime soon.
There are worse things out there than spoilers, after all.
X-Men '97 season two streams on Disney+ July 1. Obsession is in theaters now.
