Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* changes its name one more time as it heads to home release
Is it called Thunderbolts*? Is it called The New Avengers? The answer is, neither - or, really, both

Within days of the theatrical release of Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, the movie’s final twist was spoiled when Marvel itself started to promote the movie with a new title — The New Avengers. The title change was reflected in updated posters and in-theater displays, with even Marvel.com’s movies page calling the movie by its new title.
Guess what: the movie’s not called The New Avengers anymore. And it’s not called Thunderbolts*, either.
In the trailer for the movie’s home release, the official title of the movie becomes Thunderbolts*: The New Avengers, splitting the difference by using both titles on either side of that all-important colon. Inexplicably, the new title keeps the asterisk that became so important in the film’s pre-release marketing, but was intended to denote that the title wasn’t permanent… but now it just seems to… be there? Punctuation, who knows?
Also somewhat inexplicably: the new trailer actually shows the scene where Val announces the team as the New Avengers, even though that’s the final twist of the movie — even though it doesn’t show Lewis Pullman as the Sentry, oddly. (Pullman in general is weirdly absent from the trailer, some brief shots of the Void aside.)
Here’s the trailer, so you can see for yourself:
Thunderbolts*: The New Avengers will be released digitally to buy and rent July 1, with a Blu-ray release July 29. A rewatch might be in order to see if Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige was dropping real hints about that post-credit scene…
