In lieu of a season 4 of the hit Disney+ show, The Mandalorian & Grogu film will continue the story of the Force-sensitive Grogu and his lone Mandalorian bounty hunter protector. The Mandalorian co-stars Giancarlo Esposito and Emily Swallow weighed in with ideas for the film at GalaxyCon New Orleans 2025.
Acknowledging there with non-disclosure agreements that limited what they could say publicly, the moderator asked them if they were the screenwriters what adventures they would send Grogu and the Mandalorian on, joking they could get ice cream, see a movie or go to a baseball game.
“I think they should create the new galaxy, the new world,” Esposito says. ”I think that'd be the thing to happen right now. The one we're in is not doing so well. We need them.”
“You’re our only hope,” the moderator jokes.
Swallow would send them on a less pressing and more fun and fanciful mission.
“To balance that out, I would probably have them… What would be the most ridiculous thing they could do?” she says. “I would like, you know, the movie Big when Tom Hanks has that amazing apartment and he furnishes it like a kid because he's a kid in a grown-up body? I think they would probably have a living space kind of like that with the piano on the ground and a bunch of games and maybe a little karaoke corner and the armorer could come do karaoke with them.”
Esposito says some fun is needed right now.
“I think we need a little playfulness in our lives right now. It's really really warranted,” Esposito says. “I mean, I think also that if we, you know, thought in a very unjaded way, as some of our children do, we would be on the way to recreating a new world already.”
The Mandalorian & Grogu film is slated to be released in theaters by Disney in 2026.
