Well, now we know when to look for our precious again, with Warner Bros. announcing the release dates of three new movies across the next couple of years — including Andy Serkis’ The Lord of the Rings Gollum-centric spin-off… and, of all things, M. Night Shyamalan’s attempt to make a romantic thriller. (We’re sure there’s going to be a twist.)

In order of release, WB has announced that the as-yet-untitled next Evil Dead movie — which will star Dune: Part Two’s Souheila Yacoub, and will be directed and co-written by French director Sébastien Vaniček (Florent Bernard is co-writing) — is set for a July 24, 2026 theatrical debut. In a recent interview, Vaniček aid that he wants “to craft a powerful, singular — almost personal — story that could stand on its own, while still resonating deeply within the rich, complex world that Sam [Raimi, Evil Dead creator and executive producer] has built.”

The following fall, Remain — M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural romantic thriller, co-written with novelist Nicholas Sparks — will be released October 23, 2026. That one will star Jake Gyllenhaal, Phoebe Dynevor, and Ashley Walters, and (as with all Shyamalan projects) is shrouded in mystery. What is known about the project, however, is that it’s being built in two different media simultaneously. The basic story by Shyamalan and Sparks is being turned not only into this movie, but a novel by Sparks that is also called Remain, and intended to be on sale around the same time as the move’s release.

Finally, the one you’ve been waiting for: The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum will arrive in theaters December 17, 2027. Yes, two and a half years from now as of writing; this kind of movie can’t be rushed, after all. Serkis will be directing in addition to starring in the movie; at C2E2 2025, he told fans that development on the movie was “going really well. It’s very exciting. We’re sort of just writing at the moment. It’s all coming together.”
