Labubus are a monster version of Paddington Bear, so its a good thing they hired his director to do their movie

Labubu may be getting their 'chicken jockey' moment in theaters in the near future.
The Labubu movie in the works at Sony Pictures has now found its director in Paul King, the helmer behind whimsical family-friendly movies like Paddington and Wonka, as per The Hollywood Reporter. Last month, Sony bought the film rights to the beloved blind box toy, and the film is now in development. No writer has yet been announced for the film.
It's also not known if the Labubu movie is going to be animated or live-action. It's worth noting that Sony Pictures Animation, in addition to creating some of the greatest animated movies of all time with the Spider-Verse films, also has produced fare like The Emoji Movie and The Angry Birds Movie 2. Do with that what you will.
Labubu was created by the Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung as part of Lung's line of imps aptly called THE MONSTERS. They've even appeared in their own picture book called The Monsters Trilogy, which is no longer in print, despite the commercial success of the Labubu blind boxes sold by Chinese retailer POP MART. I know what you're thinking: how does one base an entire feature film around Labubu? Well, there's more substance to them than you'd think. Lung, in his Monsters Trilogy book, established them as a type of Nordic elf roaming around wooded areas, essentially living my dream life.
I'll also admit that I own two Labubus. One is named Dermator (it was the first thing that came to my mind), while the other, a smaller one from the Pin For Love series, is named Son of Dermator. Sony, you're more than welcome to get in touch with me about the lore I've jokingly come up with for my two Labubus.
