KPop Demon Hunters notches up one more Netflix record before Oscar season kicks into full swing
KPop Demon Hunters amassed more views on Netflix in six months than Happy Gilmore 2, Frankenstein, and the rest of the top six films on the streamer combined

It is that time of year again, the time for Netflix to remind us of our watching habits for the previous six months. And, as if it wasn’t obvious, we watched a lot of KPop Demon Hunters. The movie was not just the biggest movie of 2025 for Netflix, but it eclipsed any potential competition from the likes of Happy Gilmore 2 or Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
In the last six months of the year, KPop Demon Hunters amassed 482 million views according to the latest Netflix What We Watched report. This is how many times it was watched in July-December 2025, which doesn’t include the first 10 days after its June 20 premiere. So that number doesn't actually tell the whole story about how popular KPop Demon Hunters is, nor does it include the 32 million views the sing-a-long version amassed during the same period.
That is a massive number, but it becomes even bigger when you compare it to the competition. Happy Gilmore 2 debuted with a larger opening weekend on the streamer, with 46.7 million views in the three days following its July 25, 2025 release, but amassed a total of 135 million views in the same time period.
Frankenstein, by acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, was the third most-watched movie on Netflix in the second half of 2025, with 98 million views. But here is the real kicker: KPop Demon Hunters had more views than the rest of the top six streamed movies on Netflix combined. That is how completely the film has captured the attention of the world. KPop Demon Hunters dwarfs anything else on Netflix by a wide margin.
