Jurassic World Rebirth release date: Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali team-up against dinos

Yes, somehow in Jurassic World: Rebirth there are still children being taken onto an island infested with dinosaurs

Who doesn't love dinosaurs? It's a question that propelled the Jurassic Park franchise into the first trilogy of Jurassic World movies ten years ago. And now an entirely new Jurassic World story begins with this summer's Jurassic World: Rebirth. I wouldn't be surprised if the next entry in this franchise was called Jurassic World: Unending. Because that's certainly what it feels like (and I love dinosaurs).

Jurassic World: Rebirth will be released July 2, 2025 in theaters. It's directed by Gareth Edwards, who was behind the excellent 2014 Godzilla film as well as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. And based on the way that the dinos are framed in the film's trailers, it looks like Edwards pulled a lot from his experiences making his Godzilla film for Jurassic World: Rebirth. It's also written by David Koepp, who co-wrote the original Jurassic Park screenplay with novelist Michael Crichton. Koepp's other screenwriting credits include David Fincher's Panic Room and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. So it's safe to say that this Jurassic World movie could be pretty good, for once. Check out the trailer below.

Jurassic World: Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson as a "covert operations expert" Zora Bennett, tasked with leading a team with Mahershala Ali's Duncan Kincaid to an island populated by dinosaurs. There, they need to extract some dinosaur DNA that reportedly has "miraculous life-saving benefits" for humanity. Bennett and Kincaid's mission hits a snag however when a family of shipwrecked tourists wanders into the isolated island. Before they know it, the group discovers the truth about the island's past as a research facility for the original Jurassic Park. If screenwriter David Koepp can stick to what made the 1993 Jurassic Park film a smart, terrifying blast, then I will be healed.

Jurassic World: Rebirth will be released on July 2, 2025 in theaters.
