Jennifer Lawrence missed out on Tarantino movie role because of online trolls, the Oscar-winning actress reveals
Imagine looking at the star of both The Hunger Games and X-Men film series and thinking she was too ugly for literally anything? That's what the Internet did to Jennifer Lawrence.

There is no denying that sometimes the Internet can be a nasty place, turning the malice and frustration of countless trolls onto unsuspecting people. That has happened a few times in Jennifer Lawrence’s career, but it may have actually cost her the chance to work with Quentin Tarantino. Jennifer Lawrence says that Internet trolls may have cost her a role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood because she wasn’t pretty enough.
That seems like a bizarre thing to say, but remember that the Internet is often an awful place. During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Jennifer Lawrence said that Quentin Tarantino wanted the Hunger Games star for the role of Sharon Tate in his 2019 revisionist history ensemble film, but says online reactions to the casting rumors changed his mind.
“And then everybody was like, ‘She’s not pretty enough to play Sharon Tate,’” Jennifer Lawrence said. “And then they didn’t. I’m pretty sure it is true. Or it’s that thing where I’ve been telling the story this way for so long that I believe it. No, but I’m pretty sure that happened. Or he just was never considering me for the part, and the Internet just went out of their way to call me ugly.”
Again, we’re baffled by the idea of Jennifer Lawrence, who is an obviously stunning Hollywood star that could play (almost) anyone, being too ugly for anything, but nothing seems out of the realm of possibility for the Internet. We just hope that Jennifer Lawrence finds comfort in the millions of dollars she’s made over her years starring in multiple blockbuster franchises that those same people who called her ugly paid to see. Oh, and that Oscar trophy might ease her pain.
