Five Nights at Freddy's animatronic actor Kevin Foster knows who is behind the mysterious Bite of '87 (and he's written the song to prove it)

Not only has Foster put on the actual Freddy Fazbear suit for the Blumhouse film, he knows the answer to one of the FNAF franchise’s biggest mysteries

For a franchise that’s as popular as Five Nights at Freddy’s is, there’s a remarkable amount of background knowledge that fans don’t have. There exists a litany of question marks in even the most well-read FNAF’s fans record of the lore, and save for waiting for more games to explain it, there seems to be hardly anything the layperson can do to get that info.

Except, of course, for getting cast as Freddy Fazbear himself in the movie.

That’s what happened to Kevin Foster, at lest, and speaking at GalaxyCon New Orleans 2025, Foster revealed that he knew the truth behind one of the game’s biggest mysteries: The Bite of ‘87.

In the FNAF games, The Bite of ‘87 is one of two traumatic incidents that went down at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria involving the open jaws of one of the animatronic mascots and an innocent visitor. But the thing is, no one knows which of the games’ infamous animatronics was actually involved. Speculation runs rampant among fans, with some saying it’s Foxy, others Freddy himself, and still more wondering if it’s someone no-one has yet guessed. And at Fosters’s GC panel, one of those speculative fans decided to try for some clarity.

“Do you all know the lore of FNAF games?” the fan, who had lined up for the panel’s audience question section, asked Foster

“A lot of it,” Foster responded, “Not all of it. Is there a specific thing?

When the audience member brought up the Bite, Foster’s response was as quick as it was tantalizing.

“Yeah,” he said, “I know all about The Bite. I've actually written a new song about The Bite of 87. We haven't recorded it yet, but I know both bites.”

So who’s behind it, Kevin?? Well, the actor isn’t saying. However, he did make a note that he believed there to be three official “Bites,” in the franchise, referring to one that happened during his movie, in which a crook called Max is bitten in half by Freddy. Unfortunately, though, Foster’s answer wasn’t the one that that fan in the audience (and FNAF players everywhere) were hoping for.

Maybe he’ll tell us after the song drops.

Five Nights at Freddy's is currently available to stream on Starz. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 comes to theaters December 5.
