The Fantastic Four: First Steps pizza tie-in ad is not just a nod to a classic Marvel comic, it might be MCU canon

Giganto is making his MCU debut... in a Little Caesars ad promoting a Fantastic Four: First Steps tie-in pie

Okay, we’ll bite — no pun intended. When it comes to tie-in merchandise commercials for big Marvel moves, the Little Caesars Four-N-One ad has enough care and attention to detail to win over the most cynical of fans… assuming they’re familiar with the FF’s first appearance, of course.

The ‘Giganto’ short doesn’t just introduce the novelty pizza tie-in for the Marvel Studios movie — it’s got four toppings on one pizza, for when you’re feeling indecisive or just have some selectively picky friends — but it also brings to life the iconic monster seen on the cover to 1961’s The Fantastic Four #1 by Jack Kirby himself… and, just as in that cover, he’s breaking through the city streets of New York to terrorize the world. Or, perhaps, maybe this time he just wants some pizza and he decided to go to the source.

See for yourself below:

What’s notable about this commercial is that it’s the second recreation of that iconic FF cover to be released in conjunction with July’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps — the first is on the cover of Marvel’s upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps tie-in comic, which is intended to be a Future Foundation release as would be seen in the cinematic FF’s own world. Does this mean that the Little Caesars ad is canon inside the MCU now…?

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released July 25; you can order pizza right now, if you really want to.
