If you enjoyed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, then you’re in luck. Chris Pine, who starred in the 2023 film, believes that we will be getting a sequel.
During a spotlight panel at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Pine was asked if he would be willing to reprise his role as Edgin Darvis.
“Yeah, absolutely,” Pine answered without hesitation. “Again, this is inside baseball. The film did fine, but it didn’t do fine enough. That was the breaks in our business. For these films to do well, you have to make a billion, which is a lot. I think there’s a really good chance that we’ll make another one, because I think Hasbro owns the rights to it. I think there’s a good chance, and if they could figure out a financial way to make it work, I think they’ll do it.”
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was a fantasy film based on the popular tabletop RPG game. While the film was a fan favorite, it only made $208 million at the box office. As Pine said, that was “fine” but not “fine enough.” However, Pine is correct about Hasbro owning the rights. Reading between the lines, it sounds like the company has some faith in the franchise and is willing to give it another go.
In other words, Hasbro might want to roll the dice again. As any good D&D player knows, it’s all about the dice roll. Hopefully the next roll gives us a sequel.
