Earlier this week, Pixar shared a video on TikTok that is calling out viewers who ask for more original stories, but don’t support them in theaters. The video features TikToker Reba Nora in a car pretending to speak to someone offscreen. “Stop complaining that Disney doesn’t make original stories if you don’t show up to the movie theaters and support them in the first place.”
After turning to the camera, Nora holds up a poster for Pixar’s latest film Elio. “There’s a new original story. Look at that. From Disney Pixar called Elio. You should go ahead and support it.”
As of this writing, Elio has earned $72 million at the box office after ten days in theaters. In contrast, Disney’s Lilo and Stitch remake had already earned $610 million in its first ten days. The film is currently sitting at a $945 million total, and a sequel has been announced.
