Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow adds two more Kryptonians to the second DC Studios movie (but it's okay, they're family)
David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham will play Supergirl's parents in the 2026 DC Studios release

The El family tree is beginning to look a little busier. Even as audiences await the July 11 release of DC Studios’ Superman, production has officially started on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the 2026 release that will expand the DC Universe into the far reaches of space… and perhaps back to the home planet of both Kal-El and Kara. How do we know this? Because it’s been revealed that Supergirl’s parents will show up in the movie, and we even know who’s going to play them.
According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit, Oppenheimer's David Krumholtz and The Covenant star Emily Beecham have signed on to star as Zor-El and Alura, the father and mother of Supergirl in the 2026 release. It’s unclear how much of either character we’ll see in the movie; if it adapted the 2021 comic book of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the two characters only appear very briefly in flashback — however, we also know that the movie will feature Jason Momoa’s debut as Lobo, and that character doesn’t show up in the comic book at all.
THR notes that the movie, written by Ana Nogueira and directed by I, Tonya and Cruella director Craig Gillespie, started shooting this week in London, England. Milly Alcock plays the title character, while Eve Ridley and Matthias Schoenaerts will play Supergirl's companion Ruthye and antagonist Krem, respectively.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second DC Studios theatrical production; it’s due in theaters June 26, 2026.
