See Nobody 2, The Naked Gun, Freakier Friday, and more this Friday as part of 2-for-1 Date Night offered by movie theaters across the US

Movie theaters are opening their doors for love (and two-for-one concession deals) on August 22

As we head towards the end of summer, it’s time to take stock of the season, take a break, and maybe take a night off with your loved one — go for a date, perhaps, and take in a good movie. Thankfully, AMC, Regal, Cinemark, and thousands of theater screens all across the United States are ready to help this Friday, with a nationwide Date Night@ the Movies.

A program of the Cinema Foundation and Cinema United and presented by the fine folk at Fandango, the concept behind Date Night @ the Movies is very simple: on August 22, at participating theaters, fans can enjoy 2-for-1 popcorn, soda, candy, and other offerings — including, at some theaters, two tickets for the price of one! Ideal to make your ideal movie date night just that little bit more affordable, and a fun way to mark the oncoming end of the season. Let’s enjoy that high-powered in-theater AC as long as we can, I say.

What kind of date movies are available for your enjoyment as part of this event? Well, in theaters right now are such romantic offerings as Nobody 2, The Naked Gun, Freakier Friday, Honey Don’t!, Together, and some of the summer’s biggest hits like Superman and Weapons. (Is Weapons a good date movie? I think it all depends on your date, personally.)

Date Night @ the Movies is the latest event in a year-long promotion by the Cinema Foundation and Cinema United — the latter being the rebranded National Association of Theatre Owners — which has already seen both January’s National Popcorn Day and April’s Sneak Peek Showcase. More information can be found right here. Happy Date Night! Just remember that the popcorn is for sharing.
