The Takashi Miike x Charli xcx movie sounds as insane (and star-studded) as we'd hoped

We’ve gotten some new details about the upcoming collaboration between Japanese horror director Takashi Miike and singer-songwriter-actress Charli xcx, and it shows a remarkably strong cast for the film. Despite not having an official title and with very few plot details released, Charli xcx and Takashi Miike’s upcoming Untitled Kyoto Project is adding Supergirl’s Milly Alcock, along with Sho Kasamatsu, Kiko Mizuhara, and Norman Reedus.

We’ve known that Charli xcx would be working with The Audition director Takashi Miike for a while now. The British singer-turned-actress is signed on to both produce and star in the Japanese horror icon’s upcoming film. The movie, which is still simply known as the Untitled Kyoto Project, is still in early development. We know that it will see a group of friends head to the historic Japanese city of Kyoto, where their holiday goes predictably wrong after Charli xcx’s character is possessed by a tortured spirit. Miike’s involvement implies that the outcome will be suitably gory for both the cast and the viewer.

It has now been reported that Milly Alcock, who is set to star in the DC Studios film Supergirl, will join Charli xcx in the cast. So will Sho Kasamatsu (Tokyo Vice) and Kiko Mizuhara (Ride or Die). Along with them, The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus seems likely to be hunting a different kind of undead as he’ll also be in the cast.

Beyond these casting details, there are very few details about the Untitled Kyoto Project from Charli xcx and Takashi Miike. The movie is still in early production. However, given the success of Charli’s recent film The Moment and Miike’s proven track record of creating gruesome and compelling horror, we’re eager to see where the pair takes us.
