Somewhere out there is an R-Rated version of A Minecraft Movie, thanks to Jennifer Coolidge's raunchy date with a villager
We would have thought Jack Black would be the one to bring adult humor to the Minecraft movie, but our hat is off to Coolidge for beating him to it.

Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, with a passionate fanbase that extends right up to adults who played the game when it was first released in 2011. However, the Minecraft movie, with Jack Black and Jason Momoa, is very firmly aimed at kids. Its PG rating is perhaps the thing that allowed it to become the breakout hit of 2025 so far, but somewhere out there is an R-rated cut of A Minecraft Movie – at least, of one particular scene starring Jennifer Coolidge on a date.
For those who have already seen A Minecraft Movie, which is apparently a lot of you judging by the movie’s early box office, you’ll know that there is a scene where Jennifer Coolidge goes on a very romantic date with a lost villager in the Minecraft world. The scene is very light and funny, but some of the outtakes threatened to give the movie a very different feel.
“We could have made a whole other movie with the outtakes of her and the villager on the date,” director Jared Hess explained in an interview. “It would have been a rated-R film, but we kept the PG stuff. Jennifer is just a comedy goddess. And anytime she’s on screen, she’s so stinking funny.”
Jennifer Coolidge certainly has plenty of experience with raunchy comedies, having played the iconic role of Stiffler’s Mom in the American Pie series since 1999. So, it isn’t surprising that she brought some of that experience to A Minecraft Movie. We are, however, going to need the Coolidge Cut of A Minecraft Movie at some point. Even as a bonus feature on a DVD somewhere.
