Marvel launches ongoing Mary Jane and Black Cat comic this winter

This holiday season, Peter Parker gets the best gift: a new comic teaming his exes.

A surprise announcement came during the Beyond Amazing - A Spider-Man Retrospective panel at C2E2 Saturday afternoon, when Marvel editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski revealed that a new Black Cat/Mary Jane title will be launching in December.

Creator details for the series are unknown, but the series will launch as part of the Dark Web crossover between the Spider-Man and X-Men titles, and is intended to be an ongoing series featuring the two leading ladies in Peter Parker's life.

This won't be the first time the two have shared their own title; in January of this year, Marvel published Mary Jane & Black Cat: Beyond #1, a one-shot title tying in to the Spider-Man storyline of the time. That issue, written by Jed McKay with art by Carlos Villa, saw the two teaming up to complete a mission while caring for the ailing Parker.

Currently, Black Cat is appearing in the Iron Cat miniseries, which itself is a sequel to the last Black Cat ongoing series. All told, Black Cat has been a regular solo presence on comic book stands since June 2019. The December launch date of Black Cat/Mary Jane means that the title will debut the month following the final issue of the Iron Cat series.

The Beyond Amazing panel was just one of two Spider-Man panels at C2E2 on Saturday. Why not catch up with the other one, courtesy of Popverse's live coverage of Skottie Young and Mike del Mundo talking about their fandom for the character? There's even a special guest, in the form of former Spider editor, Stephen Wacker!
