Gaten Matarazzo teases a return to the original group dynamic for Stranger Things season 5

The final season of Netflix's Stranger Things will be a return to the classic group dynamic.

When you’re running from demons and government agents, it’s good to have friends. Throughout the first four seasons of Netflix's Stranger Things, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will have been through a lot. The quartet have faced monsters from other dimensions, demonic possessions, and other untold horrors. Luckily, they’ve always had each other.

However, it seems like the boys have each had less time together in recent seasons. Their friendship remains strong, but there has been a lot of splitting up and side stories. Not to worry, because one of the stars says that old dynamic will be returning for the final season.

Speaking to a crowd at Fan Expo Dallas, Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo teased a return to season 1 style group interactions. “I’m excited for audiences to see that dynamic again,” Matarazzo said.

“I think what’s interesting about Mike is how he kind of glues us all together.” Matarazzo mused. “He was the kid whose mom said, ‘Go out and find that kid sitting alone in the corner.’ And I think all three, Lucas, Dustin, and Will were probably that kid in the corner. It just feels like that vibe to me. I think it is so cool.”

Hopefully this isn’t at the expense of other characters like Eleven and Max. Either way, it will be interesting to see what the final season throws their way.  The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will premiere on Netflix in 2025
