Doctor Who's Matt Smith reveals that he was once mistaken for Gordon Ramsay, somehow
House of the Dragon star Matt Smith revealed at New York Comic Con that he had once been mistaken for the loudmouth British chef, Gordon Ramsay
Popverse was there for all four days of New York Comic Con 2024, immersing ourselves in the pop culture party full of vendors, events, and celebrities from the worlds of comics, movies, TV, gaming, and more. If you couldn't make it (or are worried you missed something) click the link for our wall-to-wall coverage of the event.
There are plenty of lookalikes within Hollywood, and for at least one human being on this Earth, Matt Smith and Gordon Ramsay are indistinguishable. Somehow. (Really, they don't look that alike at all, aside from both being somewhat chin-forward.) At New York Comic Con 2024, Matt Smith revealed that the most outlandish person he’s been mistaken as was the host of television's Hell’s Kitchen himself.
Speaking during Sunday's A Conversation with Matt Smith, Fabien Frankel and Tom Glynn-Carney panel, Smith sadly did not elaborate on the exact circumstances that gave rise to this event, as the audience erupted in confused laughter. The fact that we will likely never have a resolution for how and why this occurred makes it even funnier because of its ambiguity. Especially because, again: how do you mistake these two people?
If you’re the person who once approached Matt Smith and thought he was Gordon Ramsay, congratulations. We all have our days, and the event clearly gave Matt Smith a funny story to tell later on. Perhaps one day, both Smith and Ramsay can star in a follow up to Jordan Peele’s film, Us, where they can play each other’s Tethered.
