The cast of Ghosts talk character development and Sam's relationship with Jay's family at NYCC

Rose McIver, Sheila Carrasco, Román Zaragoza, and Brandon Scott Jones discussed season 4 of Ghosts on CBS

There's a lot to love about Ghosts on CBS. Whether it's Sam and her husband Jay trying their best to run a successful bed and breakfast out of their haunted home, Sam's evolving relationship with her father, or the ghosts that live inside their house, Ghosts keeps delivering on its delightful premise. At New York Comic Con 2024, we were able to sit down with Rose McIver (Sam), Sheila Carrasco (Flower), Román Zaragoza (Sasappis), and Brandon Scott Jones (Isaac) to discuss the show's upcoming fourth season, as well as what they enjoyed most about each others' character journeys.

Brandon Scott Jones and Rose McIver were quick to highlight the dynamic that Sam has with Jay's family. "I think Sam's relationship with Jay's family... really made me laugh," said Brandon Scott Jones. "We had the amazing Sakina Jaffrey come in to play Jay's mother. We're obsessed," Rose McIver chimed in. The actress continued, "She comes in and is just this weapon who's exactly what would be impossible for Sam to shake. Sam really wants to be liked, and this woman is not very keen to like her."

"I just love watching Sam want to be loved and liked, there's so much comedy that Rose mines from that," Sheila Carrasco said, noting how relatable that experience is for actors at large.

Román Zaragoza described how the ensemble nature of the show has challenged him as an actor. "I honestly feel like my improv chops have gotten so much better because I'm working and spending so much time with these improv legends that are around me."

Watch the video above to get the full scoop from the cast, including a moment where they lightly rib Brandon Scott Jones for fixating on sandwiches.

Ghosts airs Thursdays on CBS.
