John Cho has had quite the career across the past few decades, whether it’s piloting the Starship Enterprise in the rebooted Star Trek movie franchise, showing up repeatedly in the American Pie series — you forgot that as well, didn’t you? — or anchoring the Netflix Cowboy Bebop live action series. He is, as is obvious, a man of deep and varied tastes… but when asked which past acting role he’d want to see crossover with his Star Trek, he knew exactly what the answer was.
The subject came up during his spotlight panel at Rose City Comic Con 2024, and despite his lengthy resume, Cho knew exactly who he’d want to meet Hikaru Sulu in the Kelvin Timeline.
“Well, I'll say when I went to the premiere of Star Trek, I was watching it going, 'Oh, it's that guy from Harold and Kumar. He's amazing, and now he's on a spaceship!’” he said, laughing. Harold and Kumar go to space? It’s not the worst idea, and as Cho argued, it’s even thematically appropriate for the latter series. “I still think that Harold and Kumar, especially when you’re going somewhere, means good things,” he added.
Going somewhere… like a trek, you’re saying. Huh. I think I can see where he’s going with this one.
Cho can currently be seen in Afraid, in theaters now. Buy tickets on Fandango or Atom Tickets.
