Gruß vom Krampus, horror nerds! As I'm writing this, it is currently Krampusnacht, a celebration of everything that's creepy about Christmas. As it happens, it's also the weekend of PAX Unplugged 2024, where Krampus himself has appeared to promote an upcoming expansion of Ravensburger AG's massively popular bone-chilling boardgame, Horrified, modeled after his own brand of holiday horror. In case you couldn't make it, here's everything we know about the soon-to-be-released Horrified: Krampus.

What is Horrified: Krampus?

Horrified: Krampus is an expansion of the core Horrified game, which requires you and your fellow players to move about a town in the form of a gameboard with the objective of finding tools, saving citizens, and defeating a host of NPC monsters who are able to attack you. The game originally came out in 2019 and featured the classic Universal Monsters, and has published the following variants in the years since:

With World of Monsters, the Horrified franchise gave players the ability to work antagonists from previous games into the most recent one, so that Dracula may join forces with The Goatman, Medusa might team up with The Yeti, and so on. And now, players that wish for an even Naughtier legendary beast will soon be able to add to their roster the Dark Mirror to Santa Clause himself, Krampus.

To turn a phrase, you'd better watch out.

When does Horrified: Krampus come out?

Unfortunately, publisher Ravensburger AG has yet to confirm an official release date for Horrified: Krampus, meaning that, unless your local game shop has a promo copy, you won't be able to experience tinselled terror this holiday season (but maybe that's a good thing?). That also means that the game isn't available to preorder just now, but we'll make sure we let you know as soon as it is. In the meantime, this is Popverse signing off from PAX Unplugged, wishing you and yours a Very Scary Christmas.

What does the ending of the Krampus movie mean? We're not entirely sure, but that didn't stop us from investigating.
