As information about Dune: Prophecy has trickled out over the last year, one of the bigger reveals has been the fact that Indian megastar Tabu would be playing a member of the Bene Gesserit’s ancient ancestor the Sisterhood. While little has been revealed about her character Sister Francesca, what has been shared—that she is the former lover of the Emperor, and destabilizes the balance of power there when she returns—is definitely intriguing.

In the trailer we get just a few tantalizing glimpses of Tabu’s character. In one she stands in a corner in a watery blue headpiece and dark dress, watching some kind of scene unfold with deep concern. Later she comes before the Emperor in a black dress, and removes her veil with strong if unclear feelings running across her face.

Tabu (pronounced “Taboo”) is one of Indian’s biggest stars, ever. She has won a number of National Film Awards, the Oscars of India, as well as many other accolades and had tremendous box office success. At the NYCC Dune: Prophecy panel, co-star Emily Watson hailed her as “the Julia Roberts of India.”

Only time will tell what role she will play on Dune: Prophecy, but for those in the know, it sounds like she could well be the Sisterhood’s (and the show’s) secret weapon.

Dune: Prophecy launches on Max on November 17th.
