Somewhere Beyond the Sea author TJ Klune on "the magic of being able to see yourself in the written word" and more

Klune, the author of The House in the Cerulean Sea and The Bones Beneath My Skin, sat down with Popverse's Ashley V. Robinson to talk representation, romance, and of course, the symbiotic nature of ravens and wolves

Few authors are being talked about these days as TJ Klune. Part of that is because his novel, The Bones Beneath My Skin, had just gotten a rerelease after being self-published in 2018. But an even larger reason, perhaps, is the sweeping popularity of his fantasy novel The House by the Cerulean Sea, and its sequel, Somewhere Beyond the Sea. Despite the very busy schedule of panels, signings, and meetups Klune has going on this year, Popverse was able to secure a couple minutes for an exclusive, wide-ranging interview.

Conducted by Ashley V. Robinson, Popverse's video producer and host extraordinaire, the chat covered just about every aspect of Klune's career - from the nature books that inspired him as a child, to what goes in in his head while he's writing, to Klune's dedication to representation in his books.

Of course, they also talked about the Klune characters that the internet was shipping. Ashley does her research, after all.
