Dr. Seuss returns with an all-new book in 2026 (No, it's not AI)
Dr. Seuss left behind a story called Sing the 50 United States, to be published by Random House in summer of 2026

You thought you may have seen the last of him, but no, iconic children's author Dr. Seuss has a new book coming out next year - as in, an original Dr. Seuss book that no-one has ever seen before. Yes, we know that Dr. Seuss (or, to use his real name, Theodor Geisel - "Seuss" was his middle name) died more than a quarter century ago, back in 1991 - nonetheless, he has a new book coming out in 2026... and it's his actual work, not some kind of AI-ghostwritten book "inspired" by the late author.
Even better: if you've ever said to a child, "Can you even sing the names of the 50 states, bro?" the late children's author has you covered, because Dr. Seuss's upcoming book is called Sing the 50 United States! (The punctuation is part of the title, not that we're not excited about the book.) According to publisher Random House Children's Books, the book "invites readers to learn and name all fifty states together with the iconic Cat in the Hat and two Little Cat helpers."
Every kid in the United States has to learn the names of all the states at some point, and back in my day, that was achieved through a song called The Fifty States That Rhyme. I'll admit that the Fifty States That Rhyme isn't much of a banger, and I remember trying to remedy it in second grade by singing it as fast as I could while thrashing around. Not ideal. So hopefully, Sing the 50 United States! will provide a more calming learning experience for this generation.
The book is born out of an unpublished manuscript that was found at the Geisel Library at UC San Diego, along with a cover sketch done by Dr. Seuss himself. The artwork for the book was done by Tom Brannon in Seuss's style, following notes made by the author on the book's art direction. Sing the 50 United States! will be out on June 2, 2026, just in time for summer reading and ahead of America's 250th birthday. Take a look at the cover below.
