Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler is just like you - that is, desperate for Patrick Rothfuss to finish The Doors of Stone
The Doors of Stone would be Rothfuss's third book in the Kingkiller Chronicle, and if anyone can get him to finish it, we're hoping its Leslie Knope herself, Amy Poehler

I'd venture a guess that everybody who has read Patrick Rothfuss's fantasy series The Kingkiller Chronicle, which begins with the legendary novel The Name of the Wind, is chomping at the bit for him to finish the next book in said series, the long-awaited Doors of Stone. And while that might not be surprising, get ready to hear about someone you might not have thought was on the list of eager readers-in-waiting: titan of comedy and iconic Saturday Night Live member Amy Poehler.
We got the news from a recent episode of the Parks and Recreation star's podcast, Good Hang with Amy Poehler. Toward the end of the show, a time during which Poehler recommends what she's into to listeners, the SNL alum brought up the long-awaited third book in the Kingkiller Chronicle. "I want to mention, again, a fantasy book that I love," she said. "It's called The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Eagerly awaiting the next book, sir, so chop chop."
We hear you, Amy. Rothfuss's second book in the supposed trilogy, The Wise Man's Fear, dropped all the way back in 2011, and nearly a decade and a half later we still don't have its proper sequel. That said, and to Rothfuss's credit, there have been one short story set in the same fantasy realm, and three similarly-framed novellas, listed below:
- The Lightning Tree
- The Slow Regard of Silent Things
- The Narrow Road Between Desires
So while we absolutely feel your pain, Amy, we would advise checking out those other books as well - at least to lessen the suspense as we all eagerly await the next full-length book. Who knows? Maybe somebody's already planning on getting you one as a quick Galentine's gift.
Just like yourself, the Popverse staff spends a whole lot of time with our respective noses in respective books. It's why we've come up with stuff like:
- The hottest upcoming fiction
- Queer romance to add to your reading list
- A genre fiction literary column called If It Bleeds, We Read
...and a whole lot more. Join our metaphorical library, won't you? There are no late fees and you can be as loud as you want, so long as the people you live with are OK with it.
