The sun continues to rise in the east, which means that there is another season of Law & Order and its host of spin-off shows on their way. For more than 20 years, Law & Order has been fixture on NBC, becoming a television institution all its own. With four different shows in the franchise airing this fall, when and how can you watch them?

Alongside NCIS, Law & Order remains one of the most enduring series (now a franchise) that North American network TV has ever produced. In spite of all the competition in the police procedural and legal drama space, Law & Order is still going strong after more than 30 years and spawning equally successful spinoff shows. When are new Law & Order episodes airing in 2024?

After an 11-year hiatus, the original Law & Order series returned to NBC in 2022. In early 2024, it was renewed for Season 24 to air in Fall 2024 along with its successful spin-offs Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Organized Crime, and its international spin-off, Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.

The air date for new Law & Order episodes is:

• Law & Order season 24 episode 1: October 3, 2024 at 8:00pm EST on NBC
• Law & Order: SVU season 26 episode 1: October 3, 2024 at 9:00pm EST on NBC
• Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 episode 1: Airing Fall 204 on Peacock
• Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent season 2: No release date announced

Where can I watch the Law & Order series?

Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Law & Order: Organized Crime air their new episodes exclusively on NBC. You can, however, stream past seasons in a number of streaming services, such as NBCUniversal's Peacock.

As for Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, catch its season 1 premiere and the following episodes on Citytv. Additional distribution plans haven't been shared yet.

What is Law & Order about?

The original Law & Order (1990) originally ended its 20-season run on 2010, but was revived in 2022 with a 21st season. It typically follows a two-part approach where the first half-hour is the investigation of a crime and the second half is the prosecution of the defendant. While there have been recurring actors over the years, the show is famous for keeping its cast fresh and ever-evolving.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999) is differentiated from the parent series in that it delves into the darker side of the New York underworld, investigating and prosecuting various sexually oriented crimes and domestic violence.

Law & Order: Organized Crime (2021) follows a single-arc structure that plays out over several episodes. It's centered on the SVU character Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), a veteran detective that returns to the NYPD following his wife's murder and joins the Organized Crime Task Force.

Last but not least, Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent is more of a 'psychological thriller' wrapped in the familiar criminal investigation format, following an elite squad of detectives who are investigating high-profile crimes and corruption in the city of Toronto, Canada.
