At CinemaCon on Tuesday afternoon, Joker director Todd Phillips debuted the very first trailer for Joker sequel Joker: Folie à Deux, which is debuting this October.
In the trailer, we see Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur in the aftermath of the events from the first movie and his first moments seeing Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn and some glimpses at their dark whirlwind romance. There's lots of rain, dancing, creepy laugher, and dreamy classic movie musical choreography and setting.
The trailer for the film debuted online just after it was shared with the audience. Watch the full trailer below:
A follow-up to 2019’s Joker, Joker: Folie à Deux — the title refers to a shared delusional disorder, and is a recognized psychiatric term — sees Joaquin Phoenix return as Arthur Fleck, the failed comedian who became the iconic supervillain in the first movie. For this second outing, he’s joined by Lady Gaga as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, with Zazie Beetz reprising her role as Sophie Drumond, Arthur’s neighbor in the first movie. Also appearing are Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Ken Leung, and Steve Coogan.
Joker: Folie à Deux debuts in theaters October 4, 2024.
