The One Piece: Pirate Warriors series is getting a new breath of life as Nintendo has revealed a Switch 2 version of Pirate Warriors 4 is coming this Fall. The latest game to apply the hack-and-slash principles of Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors series to the One Piece universe is also coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, and it’s bringing a host of improvements for fans of the series, including more DLC characters and more enemies on the screen at once.
If you already bought One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 for the Switch, we have even better news for you; as revealed during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, those who already own the game for Switch will get the upgraded version for the Switch 2 for free.
The enhanced edition has some graphical upgrades, more characters, and the ability to have even more enemies on the screen at once than the basic version of Pirate Warriors 4. As a musou game, that is probably the biggest enhancement for fans. Having more bodies on the screen is part of what makes this series so fun to play. The trailer from the most recent Nintendo Direct mentions that there will be 18 DLC characters included in the additional content for the base game.
There isn’t a firm release date for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Switch 2 Edition other than it coming sometime in Fall 2025. Presumably, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game will launch during the same release window.
