Marvel Rivals support players are proposing a strike following abuse from streamers and other gamers

If you don't get the healing you need in the next few days, it is because you weren't nice enough to your healer in Marvel Rivals lately

Every multiplayer game is going to have a role that it seems no one wants to fill. Being a healer is a thankless task and being a tank can mean taking punishment for everyone else. However, it looks like no one wants to play as a Strategist in Marvel Rivals at the moment; not because the role is too complex or isn’t fun, but because they’re going on strike from support roles due to some members of the Marvel Rivals community laying some unfair criticism at the feet of players.

While streamer Necros has been the most vocal in his disdain for support players in Marvel Rivals, calling them “morons” and “idiots” and saying that they are “literally allergic to good takes,” he is far from the only one who has complained about the role. A quick scan of the Marvel Rivals subreddit will show lists of people offering the same complaints in different forms. It is a problem that persisted in Overwatch – people complaining about healers even though they’re doing their job just fine while ignoring that their DPS is running around in circles rather than dealing damage.

Because of this – and probably because the issue has been around in team shooters since long before Marvel Rivals – support players are proposing a strike against playing the role. In the past few days, there have been several posts in the Marvel Rivals reddit calling for people to refuse to play support roles in matches to prove to DPS and tank players that the game doesn’t work without a solid support player. One of those posts is currently sitting at over 12k upvotes and 300 replies, showing that it is clearly hitting a nerve in the community.

We probably won’t see much of a change in player behavior until the weekend if we end up seeing a change at all. However, it is clear that support players in Marvel Rivals are getting tired of taking abuse from other players who don’t understand what the “team” in team shooter means.
