It is tough to argue that Marvel Studios has been in a bit of a slump recently. The studio, which had put out hit after reliable hit for years, is suddenly struggling to capture people’s attention. However, MCU architect Kevin Feige isn’t worried that people aren’t interested in superheroes anymore; they’re just discovering them in a different way than they used to, just like his own son wasn’t interested in superheroes until he started playing Marvel Rivals.

Turns out, Kevin Feige’s son wasn’t bothered about the fact his dad had put together one of the most successful media franchises of all time. During a talk with reporters, Feige revealed that his son only ever “feigned interest in a supportive way” when he would discuss his work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Then Marvel Rivals came along and changed that completely.

“Suddenly, he was asking me to tell him more about Hela,” Kevin Feige said. “Tell him more about The Punisher and these other characters. And then he started seeking them out in the shows.”

That gives Kevin Feige hope that these characters still resonate with fans of all ages – just like many millennials were introduced to Spider-Man through the 90s animated series, a whole new generation of people are being exposed to Marvel characters through games like Marvel Rivals, which will, hopefully, lead them to pick up the comics and go see future MCU movies.

After all, if Marvel Rivals got that many people searching for images of Invisible Woman, surely The Fantastic Four: First Steps will do the same, right?
