The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have an immense amount of lore, stemming from their comic books, video games, toys, movies, and television shows. And luckily for us and Turtle fans everywhere, this depth of lore is reflected in their Magic: The Gathering set.
Sure, you may know the original group of Turtles - Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael - but did you also know the story behind their female counterparts, Venus and Jennika? When I saw at New York Comic Con that the TMNT MTG set included Jennika, my immediate question was whether or not Venus would be along for the ride too. And now, we've gotten confirmation from the Magic: The Gathering website that Venus is in the TMNT crossover set, which you can look at below:

In case you're not familiar, Venus, short for "Venus de Milo," was the original "fifth Turtle" when she debuted in the Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation television series. She later joined the world of IDW'S TMNT comics in 2022 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #127. Like her brothers, she was exposed to the same mutagen in the sewers, but sadly, she wasn't whisked away by Splinter (it was an accident! He didn't mean anything by it!). Fortunately, Venus was raised to be a ninja by a magician named Chung I.
She's listed as a "Mutant Frog Turtle" on her card because she originally was a human-born mutant frog who ran with the Punk Frogs. But, what's cool about this card is that it also merges Venus's other identity as a "patchwork mutant," expressed in the Frankenstein's Monster-like stitch marks on her skin in the card's artwork, which is in line with her IDW comic book counterpart.
