Here is everything you need to know about what the MTG release schedule is going to be in 2026

You could reasonably use Magic: The Gathering sets to keep track of time. After all, a new set comes out every month and a half or so, so you wouldn’t be too far off the Gregorian calendar if you decided to purely measure time through MTG sets. That said, I wouldn’t exactly recommend it, but to each their own. So with that in mind, we've put together an MTG release schedule for 2026.

Anyways, you’re probably wondering what the future looks like for upcoming Magic: The Gathering sets. Don’t worry, we’ve got all the release dates here for the upcoming sets. So strap in and hold on to your butts, because things are probably about to get expensive very quickly.

Magic: The Gathering release calendar 2026:

  • January 23, 2026: Lorwyn Eclipsed
  • March 6, 2026: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Universes Beyond)
  • April 2026: Secrets of Strixhaven
  • June 2026: Marvel Super Heroes (Universes Beyond)
  • August 2026: The Hobbit (Universes Beyond)
  • October 2026: Reality Fracture
  • November 2026: Star Trek (Universes Beyond)

When is the Lorwyn Eclipsed MTG release date?

The release date for the Lorwyn Eclipsed MTG set is January 23, 2026.

Ever since Lorwyn Eclipsed was announced, fans have been eager to get back to the whimsical setting in the Magic multiverse. Lorwyn Eclipsed will feature both Lorwyn and its darker side of Shadowmoor as the borders between the two worlds collapse. Many of the artists who were part of the original Lorwyn set from 2007 have returned for Lorwyn Eclipsed, including juggernauts like Rebecca Guay, Margaret Organ-Kean, Omar Rayyan, and more. It's worth noting that Magic: The Gathering has released a statement that the set's Draft Night bundle - and the Draft Night bundle alone - will be delayed in North America and Latin America, shipping out the week of January 19 and January 26.

When is the TMNT MTG release date?

The release date for the TMNT MTG set is March 6, 2026.

The upcoming TMNT Magic set will celebrate every iteration of the Turtles and their beloved rat dad, Master Splinter. The set will also feature a couple of cards with TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman's art, including the cover of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 from 1984. Also, it wouldn't be a TMNT set without pizza, which is why the land cards in the TMNT set are all pizza-themed, with the symbols of each land represented as pizza toppings.

When is the Secrets of Strixhaven MTG release date?

The release date for the Secrets of Strixhaven MTG set is April 2026. Currently, an exact release day for the set is not known, but we'll update this guide when we know.

There are not a ton of details available for the Secrets of Strixhaven set just yet, but the official Magic: The Gathering website states, "Find your place among the five colleges as we put down the books and delve into the real world! Uncover the Secrets of Strixhaven and prove your college is the best with every spell you cast."

When is the Marvel MTG release date?

The release date for the Marvel MTG set is June 2026. Again, like with Secrets of Strixhaven, Wizards of the Coast hasn't stated an exact day that Marvel Super Heroes is going to hit shelves at your local game shop. We'll keep our eyes peeled for any new information, though, and will update this guide once we know.

The Marvel Super Heroes set will feature many of your favorite Marvel heroes and villains, like Captain America, the Fantastic Four, the Sentry, Namor the Sub-Mariner, the Super-Skrull, Doctor Doom, the Incredible Hulk, Moon Girl, Devil Dinosaur, Elektra, Kang the Conqueror, and, of course, Thanos.

When is The Hobbit MTG release date?

The release date for The Hobbit MTG set is August 2026. Like the last few sets, a current date hasn't been set for when you'll be able to pick it up from your local game shop, but we'll update you when we do know.

The page for The Hobbit set on the MTG website has this description for the set: "Join Bilbo’s adventure of a lifetime with Dwarves to befriend, Trolls to trick, Elves to outwit, and songs to sing. There's gold or dragon’s fire at the end, so enjoy the journey!" The previous Lord of the Rings Magic set was massively successful, so it's only natural that Wizards of the Coast would return once again to Middle-earth for a set based around Bilbo Baggins and the events of The Hobbit.

When is the Reality Fracture MTG release date?

The release date for the Reality Fracture Magic: The Gathering set is October 2026. We don't know the exact day yet. But I would imagine we'll find out in the coming months. So stay tuned.

Reality Fracture is one of the most mysterious sets on the horizon for MTG. The official page for the set on the Magic website describes it as the set where "the multiverse meets its match," which sounds ominous.

When is the Star Trek MTG release date?

The release date for the Star Trek Magic: The Gathering set is November 2026. We'll know more details about the set in the coming months.

For now, on the Magic: The Gathering website, we can get a glimpse at some eye-popping art for the set. It looks like the Star Trek set will feature a multitude of various eras, which is the main thing I would ask from the set as a huge Trekkie myself. You can get a look at art of Gowron the Klingon from The Next Generation and Deep Space 9 (also known as "the Klingon with the eyes"), alongside Captain Kirk and the rest of the Enterprise crew looking locked in on whatever is onscreen in front of them. Lots to look forward to!
