MTG x BTS? Magic: The Gathering wants to do a crossover deck with a K-Pop band and your favorite romantasy books
Is a crossover with BTS or Fourth Wing in the works? Magic: The Gathering fans will have to wait and see.

Magic: The Gathering is enjoying a string of successes with its latest crossovers. Their Final Fantasy set was a huge hit, especially with Sephiroth fans (which, let’s be honest, is a lot of us). Now, the CEO of Wizards of the Coast's parent company, Hasbro, has hinted that they aren’t done with the crossovers. In fact, they’re already eyeing new and interesting fandoms like K-Pop and Romantasy to help bring new players into Magic: The Gathering.
“[D]on’t be surprised if you see us poking into Romantasy. Don’t be surprised if you see us looking at K-Pop bands. Nothing is off the table,” Chris Cocks said during a recent conference call. The statement was made as Wizards of the Coast is looking at potential licenses that will grow their female player base, which is currently around 30% of their customers.
This, of course, leads us to speculate about which K-Pop bands or Romantasy series are going to make their way into Magic: The Gathering in the future. BTS is the obvious answer, though we think that Huntrix from K-Pop Demon Hunters would make an exceptionally good fit in the game. On the Romantasy side of things, Fourth Wing feels like an easy win, along with Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses series.
To be clear, the Hasbro CEO merely implied that these were the kinds of fandoms that they were looking at to grow the female player base of Magic: The Gathering. While we’re sure that a great K-Pop or Romantasy crossover could help, there are plenty of options available to them. It all depends on how wild Wizards of the Coast wants to go.
