Magic: The Gathering Edge of Eternities set features a gorgeous tribute to Arrakis from Frank Herbert’s Dune
The borderless Poster Stellar Sights variant for Endless Sands land card from Magic: The Gathering's Edge of Eternities set must be seen to be believed

It's hard to overstate how influential Frank Herbert's Dune is in the sci-fi genre. The 1965 novel's setting on the desert planet of Arrakis subsequently spawned an entire collection of sci-fi stories featuring, well, dunes of their own, evident in everything from Star Wars to Trigun. What can I say? The people love their sand, their grains.
It's only natural, then, that Magic: The Gathering's epic space-opera set, Edge of Eternities, has its own Arrakis lookalike with the Poster Stellar Sights variant of Endless Sands. As revealed by Nerdist, the gorgeous artwork for the borderless land recalls the cosmic feel of Herbert's world of Dune. Take a look at it below.

In contrast, the Stellar Sights version of the card evokes, in our opinion, more of a Tatooine or Jakku feel from Star Wars, all the way down to the vehicle that resembles Rey's land speeder from The Force Awakens. Both versions of the card are fitting for the theme that Wizards of the Coast is going for with this set.
Magic: The Gathering's Edge of Eternities set officially launches August 1, but pre-release events for the set will begin on July 25 - this week, as of writing! Head to your local gaming shop for more information.
