Silent Hill: Townfall may be a Silent Hill game, but it's not set in the actual town of Silent Hill. Instead, the standalone spinoff game is taking us all the way to the Atlantic Archipelago, to a small town in Scotland called St. Amelia. It's a natural fit, considering that the franchise's signature foggy weather is a common sight in Scotland, but also because the game's developer, Screen Burn Interactive, is based in Glasgow. The game's writer and director, Jon McKellan, is Scottish, too.
At the Konami panel at PAX West 2026, McKellan spoke about the process of making St. Amelia feel like an authentic small Scottish town for Silent Hill: Townfall.
"We really want to make sure that the players get to know the people that live [in St. Amelia] and know the town, and it feels worth saving in some way... and understand maybe what was lost or what they stand to lose," McKellan began.
"It was really about making sure that that town is a character in the game and doing what we can to bring that to life. We photographed and scanned, I think, literally hundreds of Scottish towns around the coast to build a shape of something really authentic, and deliver something that I think for us feels really nostalgic and really familiar, and for everyone else, really unique and new." Take a look at St. Amelia in the trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall below:
Jovan Adepo (IT: Welcome to Derry, Overlord) stars as Simon Odell in Silent Hill: Townfall, where he's joined by Terry O'Quinn (Lost, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live) and Kezia Burrows (Observation).
Silent Hill: Townfall will be released on September 24, 2026.
