The opening trauma of Genshin Impact wasn't hard to fake for real-life twin Sarah Miller-Crews
When twins Aether and Lumine are torn apart in the beginning of action RPG Genshin Impact, the latter's voice actor didn't have to pretend to feel that

In the opening moments of massively popular open-world action RPG Genshin Impact, the player has to make an awful decision. The twin characters we meet at the top of the game, Aether and Lumine, have been separated by a vindictive god, and you, the player, watch as your other in-game half is taken away. It's an impactful moment for anybody starting out in the game, but for the voice of Lumine herself, it was a downright nightmare.
In case you don't know, that voice is Sarah Miller-Crews, who appeared at MCM Comic Con London May 2023 to discuss her time working on the megahit game. That moment of turmoil came up during the fan Q&A portion of her panel (which was also attended by fellow Genshin Impact VA Kellen Goff), when a fan asked the Pokémon Masters voice actor who her favorite character to voice was.
"First of all," began Miller-Crews, "Every role that I voice, I feel like there's a part of me in it. They're all special to me in different ways. I feel a little bit [like] they're your babies; they're your family. So, it's it's hard to choose a child. They're so they're usually so different."
"For example," the Pokémon Masters actor continued, "Lumine, for me, is so special to voice because I'm also a twin in real life. I remember when I was voicing the opening cut scene, [the directors] were saying like 'Imagine this: you're with your twin, you're traveling, and all of a sudden they're being snatched away from you. And you don't know where they're going, and you're trying to get to them.' I remember I was tearing up when I was recording, because I have a twin brother that is a nightmare situation."
All that said, Miller-Crews still considered working on the game a great privilege, partly because she shared such an emotional connection with her character.
"Getting to voice a character that's similar to me in that way is really, really special," she concluded.
