Jason Voorhees slashes his way back into gaming with special Fortnite and Call of Duty events planned for Halloween 2025

Friday the 13th: The Game may have been discontinued, but gamers can relive it with Call of Duty's Jason Voorhees-themed The Haunting, or for a slightly different experience, Fortnite's Fortnitemares 2025, which features other horror icons

As of this writing, it's been a full ten months since the servers for the wildly-popular Friday the 13th game have been shut down. So listen up, fans of both gaming and Jason Voorhees, we've got great news. Our Man in the Mask is slashing his way into not one, but two of the world's most popular video games for Halloween season: Call of Duty and Fortnite, respectively.

the story comes from an announcement sent out by Jason's new handlers, the good folks at Horror Inc. Firstly, the announcement points out Jason's involvement in the seasonal special Call of Duty: The Haunting, in which players can take part in what the game is calling "Slasher Deathmatch: Jason game mode." Fascinatingly, this in-game game appears to work almost exactly as the Friday the 13th game did - that is, as an asymmetrical horror in which one person plays as Jason and a handful of others play as the survivors Jason is trying to hunt down.

(Also worth noting - true to the CoD community, the game is coming out with a new "Tactical Jason design" for horror's most worn of warriors.)

For a very different experience, Jason's inclusion in Fortnite will predominantly be as a horror boss, one that hunts down players suffering from low health during tournaments. You will get to don Jason's iconic appearance, however, as a reward for competing in the Jason Haunted Cup, beginning October 16. All this will be part of Fortnitemares 2025, an event which will also feature the likes of Ghostface, Wednesday Addams, Huggy Wuggy, and more icons of the genre.

"The demand to see Jason in Call of Duty and Fortnite," said Robbie Barsamian, Executive Vice President of Horror, Inc, in a statement, "has been relentless–and we’ve heard you [...] Jason Universe is all about bringing the GOAT back. Fans have waited long enough."

Now, how do we feel about finally getting our boy into Dead by Daylight?

Call of Duty's Jason Operator Bundle is available now, with the slasher's entrance into Fortnite planned for October 17.
