The Fantasy Life series gives players a taste of two of our favorite genres; JRPGs and life simulators. The first game came out in 2012 in Japan and in 2014 in the rest of the world, so we’re overdue for a new game to replace the discontinued online version. Fortunately, Level-5 is finally giving us a stand-alone sequel when Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time’s release date arrives this May.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is focused heavily on time travel as you help rebuild a ruined village. As the assistant to an archaeologist exploring some ancient ruins, you are attacked by a dark dragon before gaining the ability to enter a time portal to the time when the kingdom you are studying was alive and well. From there, it is up to you to master various jobs and help save the kingdom from a danger that hasn’t arrived yet.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will be released on May 21, 2025. Unlike the first game, which saw a long delay before it was released outside Japan, Level-5 is giving this entry a simultaneous overseas release. They are also expanding the platforms it will be available on, with versions coming out for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5 as well as the Nintendo Switch. Clearly, they are looking to expand their potential player base so that no one feels left out of this adventure.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is out on May 21, 2025 worldwide.
