Rejoice, Tarnished, for the time to dive back into the world of Elden Ring is nearly upon us. FromSoftware is expanding on one of the biggest gaming hits of recent years by opening the world up to more players. Elden Ring Nightreign is releasing in May 2025 and it is bringing a multiplayer battle royale experience to the Lands Between.
This isn’t the first time that FromSoftware has expanded on the world of Elden Ring. Shadow of the Erdtree came out in June 2024 and was met with the same acclaim as the original game. Now Elden Ring Nightreign seeks to repeat that success when it releases on May 30, 2025. After it had its first network test in February 2025, FromSoftware feels that it is ready for the masses to return to the Lands Between for another adventure.
Unlike Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring Nightreign is a standalone game rather than DLC. This new game is set in Limveld, the first open-world area of Elden Ring. However, instead of allowing players to explore and find new and exciting enemies to be killed by, Nightreign is a cooperative multiplayer game where players spend three in-game days fighting waves of enemies and minor bosses before taking on the final boss at the end of the third day. The map will shrink slowly as the day progresses, leaving fewer places for players to hide.
Elden Ring Nightreign is out on PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well as PC on May 30, 2025.
