2025, despite the obvious state of the world, has been a year for optimism from the superhero genre. Superman reminded us that kindness can be punk rock and, more recently, Dispatch showed us that people can just be… good. Both visions have been rewarded. Superman soared high at the box office, and Dispatch has achieved some spectacular sales numbers. But, more than that, it reminded us of how good the narrative-driven game genre can be.

I was able to sit down with NH, Creative Director and Executive Producer on Dispatch and COO of AdHoc Studio, and DL, Creative Director and Executive Producer on Dispatch and CTO of AdHoc Studio, to talk about the success, challenges, and surprises of making a game as earnest, funny, and, in the current gaming climate, risky as Dispatch.
