Death Stranding 2: On the Beach release date: Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus are back in the post-apocalyptic sequel we've all be waiting for

Rumors of a Death Stranding sequel have been out almost as long as the first game, so fans have been waiting since 2019 to dive back into Kojima's unique world.

Every time we play a Hideo Kojima game, we marvel at the twisting, sometimes incomprehensible narrative and wonder why no one has just given the man the money to make the big-budget Hollywood film he’s always wanted to make. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is the latest of Kojima’s massive gaming hits to come out, once again bringing Norman Reedus’ Sam back to PlayStation consoles. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach’s release date is coming soon and promises a similar surreal experience to the first game.

Almost as soon as the first game came out, rumors started to swirl about a sequel to Death Stranding. Norman Reedus actually confirmed these rumors in May 2022 when he took part in an interview, though Kojima wasn’t quite ready to make that announcement yet. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach comes out on June 26, 2025 and reportedly takes Sam to Mexico and Australia as the world comes to grips with the events of the first game.

To give you an idea of the massive scale of the game, journalists were invited to play an early preview of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach in April 2025. That preview was a whopping 30 hours long, which is far more than the usual five or six hours that you usually get in these preview builds. The final game must be absolutely enormous to justify a preview of that size.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is out on June 26, 2025 and brings Norman Reedus back into the post-apocalyptic world fans encountered in the first game.

You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
