Critical Role Campaign 4 is just a few days away as of this writing, and if you're an animal lover, you're probably already keeping an eye on one Kattigan Vale. As you can see above, that's the Campaign 4 character who comes with a little wolf sidekick, and who will be played by Robbie Daymond. If you're a long-time Critical Role fan, you probably recognize Daymond as the player behind fan-favorite Dorian Storm, but don't expect to see your beloved genasi bard popping up in Daymond's new character.

In fact, according to Robbie Daymond, one of the purposes of creating Kattigan was to play with Dorian's exact opposite.

Popverse recently sat down with the some of the cast of Critical Role Campaign 4 (Daymond, Laura Bailey, Matthew Mercer, Aabria Iyengar, Marisha Ray, Alexander Ward, and Sam Riegel to be precise), to get a sense of their characters for the upcoming adventure, set in mysterious Aramán. Eventually, the discussion got to Daymond, who was reticent to get into specifics about his new character.

"This is a human man and his wolf," Daymond began, avoiding spoilers at all costs. Although he did feel it was OK to clarify: "His wolf has an outfit on, with I thought it was a pretty deep character choice."

To be fair, we can't very well expect the CR cast to reveal what's going on with their characters before the adventure begins, now can we? Fortunately, Daymond was all too happy to open up about what came before the campaign, in the throes of that familiar D&D invention spirit - character creation.

"When we were building characters," the Death Stranding 2 actor continued, "Outside of the design, one thing I wanted to do was to depart from Dorian [Storm]. I felt [he] was a pure soul finding his way in this world. I wanted to do the opposite which is to be a deeply capable man who is soulfully, soulfully flawed. I feel like my best work is in playing opposites and that was what I wanted to shoot for with Kattigan."

Well we can't wait to see you pay opposites, Robbie, although we bet that when it comes to love from fans, both Dorian and Kattigan will have a lot in common.
