Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 may own the 2025 Game Awards, but our hearts belong to Flute Guy
Pedro Eustache, AKA Flute Guy, has been the breakout celebrity star of each Game Awards since 2022. And this year was no exception

"The Game Awards were boring this year," says the worst person you know online. And sure, the suspense of who was going to win each category was a teensy bit lacking (in case you didn't hear, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 absolutely dominated the awards, so much so that by the end it wasn't a surprise), but don't pretend that there wasn't also an absolute miracle unfolding onstage during the ceremony.
The miracle of the Flute Guy.
Let's go back a couple of years to 2022, when the Gaming Awards honored the music of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Amidst the epic trumpets and strings that made up the Game Awards Orchestra, one particular instrument stuck out - partially because of the individual playing it. A strange-looking wind instrument that took some of the piece's highest notes, this curious flute was piloted by none other than the endlessly lively Pedro Eustache.
Born in Venezuela, educated at the California Institute of the Arts, and contributor to such soundtracks as Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Munich, Eustache's already larger-than-life resume itself looks paltry to the musician's onstage presence, which rocketed to viral fame after the 2022 awards. Every year since then, Eustache has made for reliable social media moments from the events, working with consistently stranger instruments and putting on consistently bigger displays.
But look, reader - I know that I can't quite put to words the magic of Flute Guy. His talent is on the pipes and in our hearts, not the page. So why not go ahead and check out this video compilation of his contributions from The Game Awards' official YouTube page? Go ahead and show it to your "Game Awards were boring" friends, too.
