Roblox welcomes Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo for new game in its Chibi Time universe

Roblox's Chibi Time: The Adventures of Chibi Usagi brings Stan Sakai's samurai rabbit into video games.

Get ready to experience Usagi Yojimbo in a whole new way - or perhaps for the first time - as Sakai's rabbit samurai is getting his own game on Roblox. Chibi Time: The Adventures of Chibi Usagi is a new game taking the recently created Chibi version of Usagi Yojimbo into the world of games, after debuting in the series Chibi Usagi: Attack of the Heebie Chibis by Stan and Julie Sakai. Chibi Time: The Adventures of Chibi Usagi is set to debut in early 2025.

"Seeing Usagi brought to life in Chibi Time is incredibly rewarding," says Stan Sakai. "It’s a perfect way to celebrate Usagi’s 40th anniversary by introducing him to a new generation of fans through this charming and immersive Roblox experience.”

Chibi Time: The Adventures of Chibi Usagi was created by TinyRex Games and Onin Interactive, in partnership with Sakai's Usagi Studios. This is as much to bring Usagi Yojimbo to the Roblox audience, as it is to bring the Roblox audience to Usagi Yojmbo.

"We’re excited to introduce a new generation to Usagi Yojimbo through Roblox,” said Julie
Sakai.

Chibi Time is a new distinct universe with diminutive versions of Usagi Yojimbo and other Sakai characters characters, and according to Usagi Studios, this is the first of several possible projects in the Chibi Time universe - possibly with other franchises in addition to Usagi.

"We aim to recreate Stan Sakai's intricate artwork in a 3D environment, providing a fresh and
engaging experience for players,” says TinyRex Games producer Ella Harris. "We not only
wish to pay homage to Stan and the current fans of Usagi but also introduce Usagi to a whole
new audience via the Roblox platform."

Here are the key features of the Chibi Time: The Adventures of Chibi Usagi game, according to the producers:

  • Authentic Rich Environment: Explore beautifully designed locations, from serene
villages to treacherous forests, all inspired by the vibrant world of Usagi Yojimbo.
  • Combat System: Simple and intuitive. Every time the player swings their weapon in
combat, their power increases. Players must defeat fearsome enemies in various worlds
(maps) to increase their power and strength while earning honor points.
  • Customizable Characters: Players can create and customize their samurai warriors
with traditional Japanese armor and weapons.
  • Multiplayer Boss Battles: Raid the castle and duel in epic battles alongside friends and
other players in a dynamic multiplayer environment against bosses like Lord Hebi and
    Demon Jei.
  • Traveling Companions: Summon Usagi, Tomoe, Gen, and even some defeated bosses
    to fight alongside the player.
  • Quests and Collectibles: Explore the map, complete quests, unlock mysterious areas,
and find special trinkets and unique collectibles.

"Usagi Yojimbo's timeless appeal and the opportunity to present it in a fresh, family-friendly format on Roblox made perfect sense for us," says Onin Interactive co-founder Daniel Fujii. "We are excited to see how fans and new players will embrace this unique experience.”
