About a decade ago, Quentin Weir and Dan Reiss made a Hex Chest Dice Box and posted a photo of their project on Reddit. The photo went viral, with plenty of commenters declaring that they would purchase one if made available. Weir and Reiss decided to make a Kickstarter for the Dice Box and brought it back to the Reddit community, and the project was funded.
The success of their second big product Spellbook (which looks like a book but has compartments for different game-related things) forced the company to scale up and hire more people, many of whom are currently manning the company's booth at Emerald City Comic Con.
Weir told Popverse that because the company owed so much to the Reddit community’s support at their origins, they really focus on community first and hope that the booth is a good space for customers to hang out on the convention show floor, whether or not they make a purchase.
So head over to Elderwood Academy’s booth at Emerald City Comic Con, booth #10919, and check out some cool gaming stuff - especially the company's Scroll/Codex combination. The scroll is a rolling tray with wooden sides that – with the help of magnets can be rolled up into a scroll form. At that point, the scroll can fit into the Codex, which also functions as a dice tower. See for yourself - it’s very cool!
