Rogue, Mystique and Destiny reunite as their villainous past together isn't staying in the past

A new limited series starring Rogue was announced by Marvel Comics during New York Comic Con.

It is no surprise that New York Comic Con is full of big announcements. Marvel Comics didn’t hold back, particularly during the X-Men panel on Friday. They confirmed that multiple new series, but one story caught our eye by bringing one of our all-time favorite X-Men into the starring role. Rogue is getting a five-issue limited series starting in 2026, and it promises to bring her past back to haunt her.

As we covered during our liveblog of the Marvel Comics: X-Men panel at New York Comic Con 2025, Rogue #1 is the first issue of a five-issue limited series that is going on sale in January. It is written by Erica Schultz, with art by Luigi Zagaria and a cover by David Nakayama. The early plot synopsis highlights the dark, tragic past of Rogue by reuniting her with Mystique and Destiny.

Marvel Comics has described the Rogue limited series as “Rogue has an idyllic life with her sweet Remy LeBeau, but there are still skeletons in her closet...ones that come out when she least expects it. Rogue has worked so hard to leave her villainous past behind. Unfortunately, the past doesn’t stay in the past. What happens when it slams you right in the face? What past sin would make Rogue leave Haven House? Do Mystique and Destiny hold the answer?”

What mistakes drive Rogue away from her beloved Gambit, and how do Mystique and Destiny factor into it? We’ll find out when Rogue #1 goes on sale January 2026.
